Well for the Journey | Disease Prevention Coaching

A Life Well-Lived

“You don’t have to wait until you’re sick to get well.”

Truer words have never been spoken, and New York Times best-selling authors Mark Liponis, MD and Mark Hyman, MD hit the proverbial nail on the head in their book, Ultraprevention.

obesityWell-being is more than just the absence of disease. It is a state of mind in addition to physical health. It is an approach to living which includes being proactive to help prevent the development of disease. It means mitigating potential risk factors you can’t control, such as family history, and transitions in life such as perimenopause and menopause. Well for the Journey Coaching helps to:

  • reduce stress
  • achieve greater balance and harmony in your life and make what’s truly important a priority
  • start or become more consistent about a physical activity routine
  • improve or optimize your nutrition
  • improve your sleep pattern
  • live optimally with the changes associated with perimenopause and menopause

Be more well for the journey.

Prevention Matters

Up to 70% of what ails us has been found to fall into a preventable category. Those are pretty good odds if you decide to take charge and treat yourself well.

In fact, the way we think and the actions we do or do not take heavily influence how effective we are in navigating the seemingly endless hurdles thrown our way. You may be familiar with some of those landmines

  • inactivity
  • suboptimal nutrition
  • stress
  • sleep deprivation
  • hot flashes
  • emotional volatility
  • weight gain

Well for the Journey Coaching helps you to sift through the fast-paced, noisy world full of distractions and information overload. It helps you to connect to your body and your responses to these “events” so that you can be more well for the journey.

Tweaking Tips

Ebb and Flow
When it feels like you’re on a nightmarish rollercoaster ride that will never end, what would happen if you stopped screaming and tried to flow for a while with the ups and downs instead of fighting against them?

Your stress may be a gift:
a warning signal that it is finally time to make the changes you’ve been putting off.

What Really Matters
Spend 30 minutes making a list of what and who are really important to you and the state of mind to which you aspire.

Even if it is just 60 seconds twice a day …
Take the time to just stop and breathe for a moment. It will slow down your engine, allow you to regroup, and enable you to focus with greater clarity.

Stillness Challenge
In this often noisy, chaotic, unpredictable, constantly-connected world, consider taking 5 minutes each day to “just be.” If your mind wanders, gently bring it back. At the end of 30 days, see what insights have bubbled up by simply sitting in silence. If you take care of these moments, it is more likely tomorrow will take care of itself.

Where You Look, You Go
Be honest and assess how much time and energy you have spent on your true priorities in life.

Why wait for an epiphany?
Your body may be sounding the alarm that could save your life.

Onward
Each day presents another opportunity to move forward. The past is already gone, so don’t beat yourself up about something that is now behind you.

Year in Review
Take 30 minutes to reflect on all the good things that happened and the obstacles you have overcome over the past 12 months.

Live Life
Decide to make the commitment over the next 12 months to live as if there really might be no tomorrow.
